Cello | Shih-Lin Chen
Shih-Lin Chen began playing cello at age ten, studying under Sergei Mnogine and others before attending the New England Conservatory of Music in 2004 under Cleveland Quartet cellist Paul Katz. From 2006 to 2012, he was the cellist for Canada's Borealis String Quartet, touring widely across North America to critical acclaim. Between 2008 and 2011, he served as principal cellist for Nai-Yuan Hu's Taiwan Connection (TC) Chamber Orchestra. He is currently the principal cellist of the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra, guest principal cellist for OneSong Orchestra, and a member of the TC Chamber Orchestra.
Piano | Miki Fujihara
Born into a musical family in Japan, Miki Fujihara won 1st Prize in the Junior High Division of Japan's PTNA Competition. After graduating from the Senior High School of Tokyo University of the Arts, she studied in New York under Miyoko Lotto. She earned top prizes in major U.S. competitions, including first place at the Empire State and Eastern Connecticut Concerto competitions. Renowned for her refined tone and dramatic tension, Fujihara collaborated with legendary soprano Lucine Amara and served as staff at the Amato Opera House from 2007 to 2009, assisting in conducting productions like La Traviata and La Bohème.

In Bach’s Six Cello Suites, the preludes evoke the geometry of light and spiritual structure, while the dances embody rhythm and materiality.
The six suites unfold as a journey through Paul Chiang’s art—from nature and Fire and Ice to the Heart Sutra, and finally to the renewed hope he found in light and butterflies after illness.
More than a concert, it is a journey through music and art toward inner stillness, complemented by selected works for piano.
