With the spirit of jazz and a trio format, the musicians pay tribute to the works of Paul Chiang.

♫・*. About the musicians . *・♫

Stacey Wei|Trumpet

Wei is an associate professor of the Department of Music and Director of the Arts Center in National Dong Hwa University. He holds an M.A. in Jazz Trumpet Performance from Queens College, the City University of New York. An avid jazz musician in Taiwan, Wei was the teaching director of the 1st to 14th NTCH Summer Jazz Camp, and has been the curator of he NTCH Summer Jazz Project since 2012. In 2021 he released his first album Forty-Three, which features his original works and was nominated for the Best Instrumental Album in the 33rd Golden Melody Award.

Guras Batu|Piano

Growing up learning classical music, Guras Batu obtained his B.A. in music from Taiwan’s Chinese Culture University. He then studied Jazz with pianists Kaoru Uno and Chang Kai-ya, and has been active since 2005. He has performed at the Taichung Jazz Festival and the National Theater and Concert Hall Summer Jazz Festival and served as a piano instructor at music camps for multiple times. In addition to working with Taiwanese and Japanese musicians on regular basis, he also participated in the renowned calligrapher Tong Yang-tze's "Sao+" crossover theater project and "Reading Clothes" fashion design show from 2015 to 2021. Currently he is a member of the "Qingcong Jazz" duo and the jazz piano lecture at National Dong Hwa University.

Yu-Jia Liu|Double Bass

A double bass player and composer, Liu’s music learning experience is diverse. He was a Chinese traditional music major at the National Tainan University of the Arts and a double bass major of the Jazz Group at the Department of Music at the National Dong Hwa University. He won the first prize in the Taipei Jazz Newcomer Competition in 2016. In 2018, he launched a music tour project featuring original music with German pianist Julian Moreen and formed a quartet of his namesake. He has participated in diverse performances, including film soundtracks and album recordings, dance, musicals, and modern theater performances at home and abroad.

The music performance in the galleries of the Art Center (“The Stacey Wei Jazz Trio "Improv.”) will be photographed and recorded.
