Musicians

Hwei-Jan Luo | Soprano

In 2020, Samsara of Seasons: Hwei-Jan Luo Lieders, Chansons & Chinese Verses Chanting (《遞嬗─羅惠真漢詩吟唱&藝術歌曲專輯》) won Best Vocal Performance and Best Album Producer at the 31st Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music, and was also nominated for Best Art Music Album. Her second album, WHAT IS LOVE, I WONDER: Ballades of the World & Ancient Chinese Verses (《問世間情是何物》), brought her another Best Vocal Performance award at the 35th ceremony, along with a second nomination for Best Art Music Album.

Hwei-Jan Luo earned her bachelor’s degree from National Taiwan Normal University and completed graduate studies in vocal performance at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. She currently teaches at the University of Taipei and is known for her dedication to international art songs, Taiwanese folk songs, Taiwanese-language art songs, and Hoklo Han poetry singing traditions.

Mei-Chun Chou | Piano

In 2007, Mei-Chun Chou released her debut solo album The Latin Piano Album (《拉丁琴人》), which was nominated for Best Instrumental Performance at the 18th Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music. She later released Purple Path of Eastern Serenity (《紫色的東方謐徑》) in 2018 and the concept album BACH Experience: Mei-Chun Chou Piano Album (《一個人的巴哈》) in 2019, the same year she founded the Yi-Fan Xin-Shi Chamber Orchestra (一凡心識內樂團).

A self-described “Taitung native who greets every dawn,” Chou also established Einfach Hall (一凡廳) in Taitung in 2018 as a healing space centered on the art of listening.

Chou received her Konzertdiplom and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in Austria.

The music performance in the galleries of the Art Center (Bach in the Light of Taitung) will be photographed and recorded.

By entering the performance space with a ticket, attendees are deemed to have consented to such photography and recording.
